Micronutrient Initiative (MI) worksoneliminating malnutrition from developing countries. It focusesondelivering micro-nutrients, namely the vitamins and minerals,tomillions of people who suffer from under-nutrition indevelopingcountries. MI targets vulnerable groups especially womenandchildren in these countries.Their work is creating an impact in70countries. In Pakistan, one of its initiative is toeliminateiodine deficiency by salt iodization. MI is working withMinistryof Health in improving the quality of salt iodization inPakistan.It uses an electronic system to monitor and improve saltiodizationall across the country. The system stores data about saltproducers(SPs) and details about each SP's salt production andsaltiodization. This data is collected in fields visits byDistrictFocal Persons (DFPs) of Department of Health andMicronutrientInitiative’s USI-Field Officers (FOs). Samplescollected are testedat Quality Control Labs (QCL) whose results areuploaded in thesystem to generate reports.IHS has developed an Android client that will record thesevisitsand sample results using GPS coordinates and upload totheelectronic system. The purpose of this client is to upload thedatato server in real time and facilitate monitoring and reportingofthe field visit data.
